Four surveyors, two bases, and a habit of saying no to work we cannot attend properly.
Alongside, commercial quay.
For ports in our routine area we aim to be on board within twelve hours of instruction, and within four for a casualty. Anywhere else we will tell you the realistic attendance time before you instruct, not after.
Out-of-hours instructions go to the surveyor on call. There is no answering service in between.
Commercial and fishing ports within roughly 150 nautical miles of either base, plus the repair yards and slipways in between.
Attended regularly by arrangement; travel and subsistence quoted in advance as disbursements.
We will name a correspondent we have actually worked with, and say plainly that the report will be theirs and not ours.
| Access | We arrange our own port access and PPE. Where a terminal requires an escort or a permit with lead time, that constrains attendance and we will say so. |
|---|---|
| Enclosed spaces | Tanks and holds are entered only with a valid gas-free certificate and a standby man. No exceptions, whatever the schedule pressure. |
| Working aloft | Staging or a cherry picker is the owner's arrangement. We do not survey from a stage we have not seen rigged. |
| Language | Reports are issued in English. Attendance can be conducted in Norwegian or Dutch where the crew prefers it. |
